Senior Portraits That Feel Natural, Personal and Completely Like You

Senior portraits should reflect who you are right now—not turn you into someone you do not recognize.

I photograph seniors from Derry and Pinkerton Academy with a relaxed, fully guided approach. We plan the clothing, locations and overall look together, and I provide direction throughout the session so you never have to figure out what to do with your hands or how to pose.

Sessions can take place outdoors, at the beach or inside my private Salem studio, depending on the look you want to create.

Meet the Photographer

Hi, I’m Danielle

I have worked professionally as a photographer since 2005 and hold a BA in Advertising Photography. I am also a mother of three teenagers, so I understand both perspectives: the parent who wants meaningful photographs and the senior who may not be excited about standing in front of a camera.

My approach is direct, relaxed and completely guided. I want seniors to feel comfortable during the session and look recognizable in their finished portraits.

A Senior Session Designed Around You

No two seniors have the same personality, interests or comfort level in front of the camera. Your session should not feel like a generic checklist of poses used for everyone.

Before your session, we will schedule a planning call to discuss clothing, locations, activities and the type of photographs you want. Some seniors prefer natural outdoor portraits, while others want a beach, urban setting, studio lighting or a combination of several looks.

You can also incorporate a sport, musical instrument, dance, artwork, a car, a pet or another interest that is genuinely important to you. I will help organize your ideas into a session plan that feels coordinated without becoming overly styled.

You Do Not Need to Know How to Pose

Most seniors begin by telling me they feel awkward in photographs or do not know what to do in front of the camera. That is completely normal.

I provide direction for posture, hands, movement and expression throughout the entire session. We will move through a combination of guided portraits and natural movement, so the final gallery has variety without looking stiff or forced.

My editing is polished but natural. The goal is for you to look confident and comfortable while still looking like yourself.

Senior Portrait Locations Near Derry

Your location will be selected according to your style, clothing and the type of background you want.

Derry and the surrounding Southern New Hampshire area offer access to wooded settings, open fields, architectural areas and waterfront backgrounds. Beach senior sessions are also available for those who want coastal photographs, while studio portraits can be created at my private studio in Salem.

We can use one setting or combine nearby locations when timing and travel allow. During your planning call, I will help narrow down the choices so you are not left trying to select a location on your own.

• Wooded and natural settings

• Open fields and evening light

• Architectural or urban backgrounds

• Beach and coastal portraits

• Salem studio portraits

• Sports and activity-based locations

What the Senior Portrait Process Looks Like

1. Start the Conversation

Complete the contact form with the senior’s school, preferred timeframe and any initial ideas. I will confirm availability and answer your questions.

2. Plan Clothing and Locations

We will schedule a planning call to discuss outfits, settings, sports, activities and the overall look the senior wants.

3. Attend the Session

Senior sessions generally last one to two hours. I provide direction throughout while creating close portraits, full-length images and natural movement.

4. Review the Proofing Gallery

Each selected image receives natural professional retouching and is delivered as a high-resolution digital file through a private online gallery.

5. Receive Your Finished Portraits

Planning Clothing for Your Senior Portraits

Most seniors bring two to three outfits. A useful combination includes something casual, something slightly more polished and an outfit connected to a sport, activity or personal style.

Before the session, I will help you choose clothing that works well with the selected locations and photographs consistently across the complete gallery. You do not need to purchase an entirely new wardrobe or choose clothing that feels unlike you.

A portable changing tent is available for outdoor sessions when a private changing location is not nearby.

• A casual outfit you already feel comfortable wearing

• A more polished option

• A sport, activity or school-related outfit when appropriate

• Simple accessories that do not overwhelm the portrait

• Comfortable shoes for walking between locations

Derry NH Senior Photography FAQs

When should Derry seniors reserve their portrait session?

Many families reserve during the spring of junior year or the summer before senior year. Earlier contact provides more flexibility with dates, locations and school submission deadlines. If you already know your yearbook deadline, include it in your inquiry.

Do you photograph Pinkerton Academy seniors?

Yes. Pinkerton Academy and other Derry-area seniors are welcome. Include the school and any known portrait deadlines when you contact me so we can choose an appropriate session timeframe.

What if my senior feels uncomfortable in front of the camera?

That is completely normal. I provide direction throughout the session, including guidance for posture, hands, movement and expression. Seniors are not expected to arrive knowing how to pose.

Can sports, music or other activities be included?

Yes. Sports equipment, uniforms, musical instruments, dance clothing, artwork, cars, pets and other meaningful interests can be included when appropriate. Tell me during planning so we can select the right setting and reserve enough time.

Where will the senior session take place?

The location is selected according to the look you want. Options may include wooded settings, open fields, waterfront areas, beaches, architectural locations and my Salem studio. We will discuss the choices during the planning call.

How long does a senior session take?

Senior sessions generally last between one and two hours. The final timeframe depends on the number of outfits, locations, travel and whether sports or activities are included.

Can a parent attend the session?

Yes. A parent is welcome to attend, help with clothing and provide support. I will handle the photography and direction so neither the parent nor senior has to manage the session.
