Maternity Portraits Designed Around You

You do not need modeling experience or confidence in front of the camera to have maternity portraits you love. Most of the people I photograph begin by telling me they do not know how to pose or what to do with their hands. That is completely normal—and it is my job to guide you.

I have photographed families throughout Southern New Hampshire and the Greater Boston area since 2005. During your maternity session, I provide clear direction for posture, hands, movement and expression while making adjustments based on what feels comfortable for you.

Sessions can take place inside my private Salem studio or outdoors at one of several Southern New Hampshire locations. Partners and children are welcome, and you will have access to maternity gowns from the client wardrobe.

If you are still comparing photographers, read my guide to choosing the right maternity and newborn photographer.

What to Expect From Your Maternity Session

Maternity sessions generally last approximately one hour and include time for two to three outfit changes. Before the session, we will discuss the setting, clothing, participants and overall look you would like to create.

During the session, I guide you through each pose rather than expecting you to know what to do. Partners and children can participate, and we can create a combination of individual maternity portraits, couple photographs and family images.

  • Pre-session planning
  • Studio, outdoor or in-home options
  • Access to maternity gowns
  • Two to three outfit changes
  • Complete posing guidance

  • Online proofing and image selection
  • Professional retouching of selected images

My Process

1. Tell Me What You Are Planning

Complete the contact form with your due date and whether you are interested in a studio, outdoor or in-home session. I will answer your questions, confirm availability and help determine the best timeframe.

2. Reserve Your Session

Maternity portraits are generally scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. This usually allows for a clearly defined pregnancy while keeping the session comfortable. Earlier scheduling may be recommended for twins or other circumstances that could affect timing.

3. Plan the Details

Before the session, we will coordinate clothing, gowns, location, participants and the style of portraits you prefer. You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose—I will guide you throughout the session.

4. Attend Your Session

Your session will include approximately one hour of guided photography with time for two to three outfit changes. We will work at a comfortable pace and adjust poses or take breaks whenever needed.

From Proof to Finished Portrait

Your proofing gallery allows you to choose the expressions, poses and combinations that matter most to you. Once you make your selections, each chosen image is professionally finished with careful attention to skin tones, clothing, distracting details and the natural appearance of your body.

Your selected high-resolution digital image files are delivered through a private online gallery. Professional print and wall-art options can also be discussed if you would like help displaying your portraits.

New Hampshire Maternity Photography FAQs

When should maternity portraits be scheduled?

Maternity sessions are generally scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. At this stage, your pregnancy is usually well defined while the session can still be completed comfortably. If you are expecting twins or have other timing considerations, an earlier session may be recommended.

How long does a maternity session take?

Most maternity sessions last approximately one hour and allow time for two to three outfit changes. We work at a comfortable pace and can take breaks or adjust poses whenever necessary.

Do you provide maternity gowns?

Yes. Clients have access to a collection of maternity gowns for studio and outdoor sessions. We will discuss available options before the session, and you may also bring clothing that reflects your personal style.

Can my partner and children participate?

Yes. Partners and children are welcome. Your session can include individual maternity portraits, couple photographs, sibling images and complete family portraits. I will guide everyone through comfortable positioning and natural interaction.

Should I choose a studio or outdoor session?

Studio sessions provide privacy, consistent lighting and no weather concerns. Outdoor sessions offer natural scenery, movement and evening light. The best option depends on the photographic style you prefer, the time of year and your comfort level.

What happens after the session?

A few days after the session, we will meet over Zoom to review your proofing gallery and choose the portraits you would like professionally finished. Your selected images are then retouched and delivered as high-resolution digital files through an online gallery.
